I am finally finished repairing the plank walkways that span the collapsed portions of the disjointed Vega Bridge. I pray this will make it easier for travelers to venture home along this ancient, hallowed route. Unfortunately, the Ancient Guardians have also taken to traveling along the span. I had to kill countless of their number just to make the repairs, and I fear that a less well-prepared traveler will simply be overwhelmed. These timelost creatures resurrect as we do, reborn in a cloud of Azoth smoke.

Plank Walkways

The Ancient Guardians who watch over this bridge seem somehow bound to this place. Perhaps their Ancient masters charged them with watching over the site. What a cursed existence… forced to patrol the same stretch of stone for all time, in defense of a long-lost civilization. I wonder how these poor conscripts were chosen. Were they cruelly pressed into service, or did they volunteer for eternal service to their masters? How I wish these old bones still held the power of speech, for who knows what secrets they might divulge, had we the power to ask.

Vega, the brightest star of the constellation Lyra, shines brightly over the bridge tonight. I asked you to meet me here, but you have not come. Have you forgotten me? Or worse yet, do you no longer remember me fondly? I will wait here until the moon is at the zenith, praying to look upon your face once more.

Starcrossed Meeting

The moon over the Vega Bridge tonight is a sight to see, it pales by comparison to your comely face. There is acrimony between our people, the denizens of Periville and Taryville, but here on this bridge between our two townships, we free from the trappings of name and clan and creed. Here is a place where, despite its dangers, we can live and love freely.
