Our expedition to this ancient site has proven
The Ancient Guardians that haunt this place are single-minded and relentless. Regardless of how many times we strike them down, they rise again and redouble their attack. What’s more their desiccated bodies seem immune to the strange contamination sweeping over this land. We have no such luck.
I lost three men today, attempting to explore the ruins: Carl, Vincent, and Amadeus. Each one returned, but they are somehow slower, and duller in wits. I can only assume they are sick with whatever malady is sweeping through the Fens. I myself am developing sores where one of the devils cut me. My throat is dry and I fear I have a fever. If I should fall, will I meet the same fate they have, returned to life, but somehow lesser? We are no closer to understanding the source of the mysterious blue flames. Only closer to death. May God have mercy on our souls.
