There once was a girl who was born from a sunflower, on a late-summer morn. The stalk bent over as the bud opened up and the flower formed a bed for her on the tilled earth. An old farmer found her and named her Galbena Floare. Her hair was gold and her eyes were brown and she dressed all in shades of green.
She soon grew very tall, but Galbena Floare never spoke and only turned her face towards the sun on bright days and hung her head down when it rained, until one day, she stopped moving and could only stare eastward no matter the weather. The farmer tried to take care of Galbena, but she remained rooted in place until she withered away, leaving a thousand tiny black seeds where she had stood, and the farmer became very sad.
At harvest time, the farmer’s sunflower fields bloomed again, and each flower’s face followed the farmer instead of the sun.
