Legends, folklore, campfire tales, and childrens' bedtime stories suggest that Upyr drain memories and thoughts, but I cannot be called a scientist and that's an unproven theory (but highly suggested everywhere it seems).
Descriptions state an Upyr begins with raising of arms, the victim floating in the air, tendrils of blue energy snaking from the eyes and mouth of the victim to the mouth of the host. At least that's how I remember it.
Upyr drainings, while seemingly rare, are quite common they say. I have indeed heard this to be true. Nonetheless:
Physical symptoms might be sunken eyes, listless expressions, dizziness and confusion, lethargy, sleeplessness, paranoid delusions, lucid dreams, vivid nightmares, loose stools, waking hallucinations both auditory and visual which grip the mind and resolve in no further conflict than the undoubted existential truth that we live in a precoded simulacrum of reality stored on electricity, strange new addictions, and very very very rarely, a slight headache.
