Today I caught a glimpse of something while casting my rod— just a peep, before it disappeared in the murky swampwater. For some reason, I could not get the image out of my mind.
It was only after I returned to my perch in the marketplace that I recalled the tale. A myth. A great serpent of legend that a woman among the refugees once spoke of encountering: the Varanus Mandje. This infamous sea snake is said to have mystical properties. I know not if it poses a danger to the town, but its arrival can portend nothing good. I must catch it before its too late.
