With so many families displaced by disease and withering, Twillen sees a great deal of unfortunates. These poor souls have not the coin for a home of their own, but still manage to scrape by with a room at the inn or by camping within the settlement wall. While hardly ideal, the town offers some refuge from the dangers of the outside swamp. \n\nIt is for them that I fish. Each night I haul my catch into the town square to distribute to the crowds. There is no higher calling than helping those in need.

Feeding the displaced masses of Weaver’s Fen is of great necessity. But it is only a temporary solution. If any settler is to call these swamps home, we must find a way to arrest the slow march of the withering. This starts by purifying her waters. \n\nAs they march, the many evils of this place leave behind their taint, causing the waters to putrefy and the surrounding wildlife to rot. I suspect the ships that wrecked here may be the source of the disease, as even the brackish areas are contaminated. \n\nWith so many contaminants threatening the water supply, I pray I have the endurance necessary to make a difference. For I long to see these murky waters clear and blue for the first time since ancient times.

Today I caught a glimpse of something while casting my rod— just a peep, before it disappeared in the murky swampwater. For some reason, I could not get the image out of my mind. \n\nIt was only after I returned to my perch in the marketplace that I recalled the tale. A myth. A great serpent of legend that a woman among the refugees once spoke of encountering: the Varanus Mandje. This infamous sea snake is said to have mystical properties. I know not if it poses a danger to the town, but its arrival can portend nothing good. I must catch it before its too late.
